Gary L. Smith was appointed as PowerSouth's President and Chief Executive Officer January 2000. He joined PowerSouth as Staff Attorney in 1989 and was appointed Director of Legal Affairs in 1991 and Vice President of Legal and Corporate Affairs in March 1996. He is a graduate of the University of North Alabama, where he received a bachelor’s degree in accounting and economics. He has a juris doctor degree from the Cumberland School of Law.

Larry Avery has a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering from Texas A&M University, a master’s degree in engineering from The University of Alabama at Birmingham, and is a registered professional engineer in Alabama and Florida. He joined PowerSouth in 1977 as a Distribution Engineer, was promoted to Transmission Superintendent in 1980 and to Operating Services Department Manager in 1981. In 1988, he was named Division Manager of Engineering and Operations, and in 1989 Vice President of Engineering and Operations. The division was re-organized as the Power Delivery Division in 2007. |

Seth Hammett was appointed as PowerSouth's Vice President of Business Development in October 2009. Joining PowerSouth in August 2004 as Director of Economic Development, Hammett holds bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Auburn University and has Honorary Doctors of Law Degrees from Troy University and the University of West Alabama. He currently serves as State Representative of the 92nd District (Covington and Escambia counties of Alabama) and Speaker of the Alabama House of Representatives. He is also the president emeritus of Lurleen B. Wallace Community College in Andalusia. |

Horace Horn was appointed Director of Government and Economic Affairs in January 2000. Prior to joining PowerSouth, he served as Alabama State Director of USDA Rural Development. From 1990-1993 he served as a member of the board of directors of the Farm Credit Bank of Texas and as a member of the Advisory Council for agriculture, small business and labor to the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta. He was named as Troy State University Alumnus of the Year in 1996. Horn was promoted to Vice President of Government and Economic Affairs in June 2003. The division was re-organized as the External Affairs Division in 2007. |

Rick Kyle

Financial Operations

Rick Kyle was named Director of Financial Operations in November 2007. He joined PowerSouth in February 1979 as General Accountant. His successive titles include Supervisor of General Accounting, Manager of General Accounting and Manager of Financial Planning. Prior to his employment with PowerSouth, Kyle worked with Cox and Faulk Certified Professional Accountants in Geneva, Ala. He is a graduate of Auburn University and earned his MBA certificate from the A.B. Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

Damon Morgan earned a degree in electrical engineering from Auburn University and is a certified professional engineer. He joined PowerSouth in 1982 as an electrical engineer and was promoted to Distribution Engineer, Planning Engineer and System Planning Manager prior to being named Director of Fuel Procurement and Bulk Power Services in 1997. He was named Vice President of Corporate Affairs in January 2000, and in August 2002 he assumed the responsibility of Vice President of Power Production. The division was re-organized as the Power Supply Division in 2007. |

Ferrell Walton earned a bachelor’s degree in accounting and a master’s degree in business administration from Auburn University and is a certified public accountant. He served as Vice President, Secretary-Treasurer for Johnston Industries from 1993-1999. From 1973-1993 he served as Vice President and Chief Financial Pfficer for Opp and Micolas Mills, Inc. He was named as PowerSouth Vice President and Chief Financial Officer in January 2000.

Beth Woodard joined PowerSouth in 1991 as Staff Attorney. She was promoted to Legal Affairs Manager in 1997. She earned her bachelor’s and juris doctor from The University of Alabama and was admitted to the Alabama State Bar in 1990. She was named Director of Legal Affairs in January 2000. She was promoted to Vice President of Legal Affairs in June 2003. The division was re-organized as the Legal & Corporate Affairs division in 2007. |
