A Cooperative Environment is a hands-on program designed to enhance classroom education about native reptiles and amphibians. It teaches students about the differences between reptiles and amphibians and their niche in Alabama’s and northwest Florida’s environments. The role of the student, school and electric cooperative as environmental stewards is discussed.
The program, aimed toward third- and fourth-grade students, includes an educational slide show as well as a hands-on program in which children have the opportunity to touch and hold the animals. The animals used during shows include several species of non-venomous snakes, lizards, turtles, toads, frogs and salamanders.
For additional information about A Cooperative Environment, please contact your local electric cooperative.
