PowerSouth offers member cooperatives privileges to tour PowerSouth generation facilities. Plant tours at PowerSouth's Lowman Power Plant in Leroy, Ala.; McIntosh Power Plant in McIntosh, Ala.; and McWilliams Power Plant in Gantt, Ala., are available to students of various ages during February, March, June, July, August and September. In addition, PowerSouth's corporate headquarters, Andalusia, Ala., is available for guided tours year-round.

Elements of instruction for tours can, to an extent, be tailored for various age groups. The basic concepts of electricity generation, environmental stewardship, work force, community safety and basic economic impacts of cooperatives in rural areas of Alabama in Florida are discussed during the tours.
