Get Charged! is a unique educational outreach tool designed to provide students in grades 5-9 real-world understanding of the power and purpose of electricity, as well as the importance of electric cooperatives in bringing power to rural America. The program answers basic questions about electricity, such as where it comes from, how it works and how to use it safely.

As part of the Get Charged! program, middle school teachers receive educational tools, including videos, CD-ROMs, teachers’ resource guides, student activity books and other collateral materials to augment the existing curriculum.

Developed by Touchstone Energy and Discovery Channel School, Get Charged! complies with National Science Education Standards. The program represents a first-time partnership for Discovery with a non-educational entity to provide content directly to schools.
