ANDALUSIA, ALA. — Retiring trustees were recognized during PowerSouth Energy Cooperative’s annual meeting for their dedication and service to PowerSouth and to electric cooperative members across Alabama and northwest Florida.
Wood Till of Pioneer Electric Cooperative was recognized for his service from 2006-2007. Till served on the Member Relations and Strategic Planning Committee.
Susan Grace, represented Wiregrass Electric Cooperative from 2005-2007, serving on the Executive Committee, Nominating Committee, and Member Relations and Strategic Planning Committee.
“It has been an honor to serve on the PowerSouth board,” Grace said at the meeting. “Through this opportunity, I’ve been able to gain insight on power supply and power generation.”
Kyle Tharpe of Pea River Electric Cooperative was recognized for his service from 2006-2007, serving on the Marketing and Economic Development Committee.
James Williams, former general manager of Tallapoosa River Electric Cooperative, was recognized for his service from 1995-2007, serving on the Marketing and Economic Development Committee and the Cooperate Planning and Power Supply Committee.
John Worthington of West Florida Electric Cooperative was recognized for his service from 2000-2008. He served on the Nominating Committee, Engineering and Operations Committee, Finance and Audit Committee and Marketing and Economic Development Committee. He was also a Florida Electric Cooperative Association (FECA) alternate voting delegate.
“It has been a pleasure to be a part of a growing organization,” Worthington said. “Serving on the PowerSouth board has been both a rewarding and an educational experience for me. I wish the company continued success.”
The late David Bandstra represented the Water Works and Electric Board of the City of Elba and was recognized for his service from 2002-2008, serving on the Member Relations and External Affairs Committee, Nomination Committee, Finance and Audit Committee and Executive Committee. Bandstra passed away April 25. His wife, Vickie, accepted his plaque and spoke on his behalf.
“He was a kind and loving man and a very giving person,” she said. “It was an honor for him to serve on the board.”
