COLEMAN JOINS POWERSOUTH AS GOVERNMENTAL AND PUBLIC AFFAIRS REPRESENTATIVE

ANDALUSIA, ALA. – PowerSouth Energy Cooperative announced today that Heather Coleman has joined the company as a member of the external affairs division. Her responsibilities will include government and public affairs in Alabama, Florida and Washington, D.C. Coleman will serve as a liaison between PowerSouth, state agencies, legislators, members of Congress, staff and state and federal regulatory agencies.

“I am pleased to add Heather to our team,” says Horace Horn, PowerSouth’s Vice President of External Affairs. “Her experience in governmental affairs will be a great asset in developing and implementing state and national governmental affairs policies, procedures, plans and programs."

Prior to joining PowerSouth, Coleman led the State Governmental Affairs function for Alabama River Pulp Companies, Parsons and Whittemore Inc., and Independence Renewable Energy. She was the sole advocate and direct contact for the companies with the state legislature, executive and administrative offices and regulatory agencies

In 1996, Coleman was recruited to manage Reading Alabama, Inc., a $15 million non-profit organization formed to coordinate a partnership between government, business and educators. Reading Alabama provided technology-rich reading and writing programs to public schools in the state.

Coleman received her undergraduate degree in English and her master’s degree in education from Auburn University in Montgomery. She and her husband, Larry, live in Montgomery and have two daughters, Mary Darby and Katie.
