ANDALUSIA, ALA. — When you’re hanging onto a 300-foot tower, driving across the Southeast or working on PowerSouth’s complex communication network, the importance of safety becomes a tangible reality.
PowerSouth’s Telecommunication Services Department’s commitment to safety is obvious in their latest safety achievement – more than 35,700 hours worked in the past year with no lost-time accidents. In fact, as of May 12, Telecommunications had achieved a full three years with no lost-time accidents, equaling more than 99,500 safe working hours.
“The safety-first attitude here at PowerSouth is very much appreciated,” said Bill Rogers, Telecommunication Services Manager. “Safety has always been important at PowerSouth, but Gary (Smith) and the senior management staff have taken it to a whole new level. I’m proud to be associated with an organization that places worker safety above all else.”
The department celebrated their milestone with a luncheon on July 1.
“I commend Telecommunications on this notable milestone,” said PowerSouth Safety Supervisor Buddy Manring. “I encourage them to continue to keep safety in the forefront of their minds, whether they’re working in the office or in the field.”
