ANDALUSIA, ALA.– In keeping with PowerSouth’s number-one company value, PowerSouth’s Telecommunications department has recorded six consecutive safe working years.

Over the past six years, Telecommunications employees have logged more than 224,000 hours of working safely, with no lost-time accidents. In the past year alone, these employees worked 42,346 hours safely.

“Safety is all about having the right safety attitude,” said Larry Avery, PowerSouth Vice President of Power Delivery. “I encourage you to watch your attitude and remember that no job is worth doing without having a positive safety attitude.”

Safety continues to be top priority at PowerSouth, with a comprehensive safety program that not only rewards safe behavior, but also stresses the importance of safety both on the job and off.

A key element of the safety program includes evaluating accidents to glean valuable information about how to prevent future occurrences.

“In our business, when something fails we make every attempt to fix the problem as quickly as possible; however, don’t ever move too fast to fix things without keeping safety a top priority,” said Gary Smith, PowerSouth President and CEO. “You have to be prepared for the unexpected.”

Smith also said that PowerSouth’s safety program is a partnership with every employee, our safety department and management staff.

“The management staff takes safety seriously, and I hope you will continue to make it number-one in your job,” Smith said.
