As communities in the service territory grow, PowerSouth maintains and develops the transmission system to accommodate the energy needed to support that growth. With 2,273 miles of transmission line and 294 substations in service, PowerSouth is continually replacing and upgrading infrastructure to ensure top-notch reliability.
PowerSouth’s transmission reliability metrics are as good as or better than any other utility in the Southeast. These performance measures are the result of sound maintenance and operation practices, the addition of advanced technology and improved system protection systems.
As one of 62 G&T cooperatives in the United States, PowerSouth is interconnected with other power generation and transmission companies throughout the southeast. PowerSouth is part of the eastern interconnection and bulk electric system.
